Expanding Youth Mental Health Care: A Look at the CCAMH Treatment Center

Welcome to the CCAMH Treatment Center. Our core mission is to expand access to evidence-based mental health care to young people as quickly as possible. To achieve this, we provide exceptional supervision that arms clinicians with an arsenal of evidence-based therapeutic tools, uniquely tailored to address the needs of children, teens, and young adults.

Mental health treatments are as diverse as the conditions they address, with quality and effectiveness varying widely. The distinction between these treatments lies in their scientific backing – some therapies are reinforced by extensive research, while others are not.

Therapies rooted in science fall under the category of "evidence-based practice" (EBP). If a therapy not only follows EBP principles but also has solid scientific evidence affirming its effectiveness, it earns the title of an "evidence-based treatment" (EBT). Both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association recommend EBTs as the gold-standard approach to treating mental health symptoms.

With the expert guidance of Dr. Friedman and our team of EBT-experienced clinicians, the CCAMH Treatment Center offers the following over a 12-month period for clinicians seeking to specialize in child and adolescent EBT:

  • Comprehensive, high-quality EBT clinical training and supervision

  • Over 800 hours of EBT provided to 200+ youth who would otherwise lack access to crucial mental health treatment

  • Four unique teen support groups, each centered on a different theme: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and mental health challenges unique to FirstGen teens.

By delivering these services, the Treatment Center significantly expands the number of children and teens who can access high-caliber, evidence-based mental health care.

For those interested in joining us on this crucial mission, we offer support at various stages of professional development:

  • Master's level trainees: Stipends available

  • Master's level and postdoctoral associates: Paid internship opportunities as employees

By fostering an environment of continual learning and improvement, the CCAMH Treatment Center serves not only as a beacon of hope for young individuals facing mental health challenges but also as a hub for the development of future leaders in evidence-based mental health care.
