Erika Schuetze

Director, Communications Manager

Erika has more than 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing. She is currently a Division Manager working for the County of San Luis Obispo in the Department of Planning and Building where she manages teams that include Information Technology, Human Resources and Customer Service/Communications.

Her previous work has focused on promoting companies in the sustainability, corporate social responsibility and clean technology sector including Edeniq, Renew Financial/CaliforniaFIRST, EVgo and JUST Water.

Erika transitioned to sustainability after years representing leading technology companies through public relations agencies and as a freelancer. Her clients ranged from Fortune 100 companies to pre-IPO start-ups. Erika’s well-rounded experience includes leading admission programs for a for-profit university and a private non-profit school. She served as the Assistant Director of Admission for Argosy University in Seattle and the Director of Admission for Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School in the Bay Area.

Erika grew up on the Central Coast and currently lives in San Luis Obispo with her husband and two sons. She has supported local organizations and served on boards including Congregation Beth David, United Methodist Children’s Center, Spokes and Los Ranchos PTA. She earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s degree in educational counseling from San Jose State University.
